Dr TV Sairam is visiting UK around November 2009 following his USA lecture tour and can give one or two lecturers based on the Raga of healing.

Dr Sairam has written - I have finalized my itinerary which is given below. I will be now halting at UK between 20th November and 23rd November. Effectively, we can fix the sessions either on 21st Nov or on 22nd Nov or both the days (if necessity arises) As I will be be travelling with my laptop, I may need only a projector for showing the slides. If it is a small audience, there may be no need for amplification too..The presentation can be for a couple of hours as lec-dems or for the entire day as a workshop. (It can be even a two day work shop on Nada Yoga and Raga Therapy if there is a demand for that) Thus the presentation is quite flexible depending on the trainee's needs and interest.

T. V. Sairam, a senior member of the civil services in India, holds a doctorate in alternative medicine. He has several publications (10 books and 400 published articles) to his credit on an assortment of subjects, which include alternative medicine, herbal remedies and music. He has undertaken a pioneering research in Nada Yoga and Raga Therapy during his spare hours and has presented several lecture-demonstrations in national and international conferences. He currently guides a team of volunteers drawn from musicians, social scientists, medical professionals, musicologists, and psychologists, which is concerned with a scientific evaluation of Indian Ragas for their therapeutic role in mentally- retarded children.

Our clinical notes are our best protection in law because we are accountable for our actions as professionals for the rest of our lives.

To be effective though, our notes need to address a specific set of criteria and art therapists will need to be aware of these. There are also many questions about legal issues regarding images and audio-visual recordings of arts therapies sessions such as ownership, keeping archives, and use in legal procedures. This course will outline how notes can be written to explicitly address these questions and it will also aim to clarify the relationship between images and the law. It will be practical and will be immediately applicable.

This is a 3 day workshop. Song writing is a powerful therapeutic intervention which can help people express and understand themselves at difficult times. As an expressive and unifying medium it can often provide a unique and creative experience in both one to one and group settings. This three day course focuses on developing our abilities to facilitate this therapeutic practice within a wide range of settings. It grounds song writing in therapeutic models and encourages opportunities to share and develop approaches to practice. There is a strong focus on developing skills and techniques using a wide range of instruments and opportunities to develop basic production and recording techniques with the help of equipment manufacturers Roland UK who have supported this course from its inception. In response to feedback from previous participants, this year the course has been extended by a third day. It will cover advanced clinical training in using Neurologic Music Therapy to address communication, cognitive, sensory and physical functioning. The new Silver Clef Concert Series 2009 at the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Centre, London kicks off on Saturday 17^th January at 8.00 pm with three groups of performers – a combination of music therapists and other musicians – exploring the borders between classical music and jazz.
